At CFMS, we understand that harbors and ports are central to the UK’s economy, resilience, and environmental strategy, making them vital for maintaining the country’s role as a major global trade hub while supporting national security and sustainable practices.
Project Overview
CFMS were tasked to support with repairs at Macduff Harbour below low water level. The harbour is a working harbour with a full fishing fleet that rely on the area for all commercial and maintenance needs. CFMS carried out the work over a period of 3 months in such a manner as to cause minimum inconvenience to vessels and small craft using the harbour and in cooperation with the Harbour Master to ensure that the work was arranged so that the regular passage of commercial vessels and quayside operations/traffic was not hindered. CFMS carried out the repairs below the water level using its experienced dive team using an environmentally friendly natural cement product for the smaller repairs. The larger repairs were complete using underwater concrete from a local supplier, the design was adjusted to suit the harbour master and 20m3 of material pumped
into on site fabricated shuttering. The CFMS team removed any loose debris from the cavities and surrounding areas, cleaned inside the cavities and the surrounding area to clear any marine growth. This allowed for a further survey to determine the full extent of scour/erosion and give a thorough as found survey to the client to give a true scale of the repairs.
Additional work
- Provide cost effective solutions to any problems found.
- Following successful completion of the project, CFMS was awarded additional repair work at Banff and Port Soy Harbours.
